Meet Nathan!

I am a clinical therapy intern At NECOA – New York, where I specialize in treating OCD, anxiety and related disorders. I work with individuals of all ages, with a focus on children, teens, and young adults. I value building a supportive therapeutic relationship with each client, and collaborating with them to ensure that our time together is as helpful as possible. My aim is to help clients find new ways to relate to their thoughts and feelings, and to find a way out of what can feel like an inescapable whirlwind inside their mind, so that they can move forward with the life they really want to be living.

I use evidence based strategies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help people achieve lasting improvements to their mental health and overall well-being. I am also experienced in helping both children and adults navigate executive functioning and organizational concerns that can sometimes be present alongside OCD, anxiety, depression, and other disorders. I have significant experience working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, including trans and genderqueer individuals, and I always seek to provide competent, affirming care.

In addition to my internship at NECOA, I am currently in my final year of training as a masters student in Mental Health Counseling at The City University of New York – Baruch College. Prior to joining NECOA, I completed a clinical internship with Anna Allmann, PhD, an OCD and anxiety specialist in Westchester County. I am an active member of the International OCD Foundation, and I facilitated workshops for elementary and high schoolers at the 2023 and 2024 IOCDF conferences. Before entering the world of mental health, I spent many years as an elementary and middle school teacher in Philadelphia, an experience I find especially helpful in my work with children and families. I earned a Bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College in Theater with a minor in History.
